The River of Time by Igor D. Novikov,

The River of Time by Igor D. Novikov,
The nature of time has long fascinated physicists and the general public. As an irresistible flow into which all events are embedded, time cannot be slowed or accelerated, nor can it be undone or turned back. In The River of Time, Igor Novikov describes how the thinkers throughout history have defined time and how these discoveries demonstrate that humans may influence time's flow. He describes how time flows in specific regions of the Universe, how it stops in black holes and splashes over the brim in white holes, and how time may convert into space and vice versa. Exploring time's genesis at the Big Bang, Novikov details how recent discoveries indicate that time machine travel might be possible. Igor Novikov is the Director of the Theoretical Astrophysics Center and Professor of the Astronomical Observatory of Copenhagen University. He began his scientific career at the Moscow State University and has since been affiliated with the Institute of Applied Mathematics, Moscow, the Space Research Institute, Moscow, and Copenhagen University. He has published more than 250 scientific papers and 150 articles and is the co-author of Edwin Hubble: Discoverer of the Big Bang (Cambridge, 1993) and Black Holes and the Universe (Cambridge, 1993).

The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Space: Missions, Applications and Exploration by Fernand Verger,
The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Space: Missions, Applications and Exploration by Fernand Verger,
Since the lift-off of Sputnik in 1957, over 8,000 satellites and spacecraft have been launched from over thirty countries, costing hundreds of billions of dollars. While only about 350 people have made the incredible journey beyond our atmosphere, we all benefit in countless ways from the missions. An authoriative and accessible source that collects information on man's quest to explore the Universe, The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Space, provides a global perspective of our occupation and use of space, whether for scientific, industrial, commercial, technical, or military purposes. The authors set the stage by describing the space environment, orbits and ground tracks, launchers and launch sites. Subsequently, they discuss the main space applications (telecommunications, navigation and Earth observation, military), plus science missions, planetary exploration, and space stations. Extensively illustrated with more than 300 illustrations, maps, and graphs, The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Space will be an invaluable resource for everyone interested in our use of space, and the perfect reference for those working in the space arena. Fernand Verger is Professor Emeritus of Geography at L'Ecole Normale Supé rieure, Paris. Isabelle Sourbé s-Verger is a researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research and the Foundation for Strategic Research, Paris. Raymond Ghirardi is a cartographic engineer at the CNRS and has worked on many geopolitical projects. Xavier Pasco is a researcher at the Foundation for Strategic Research and Associate Professor at the Universite de Marne la Vallee. Pasco is also a Fellow at the Space Policy Institute at George Washington University in Washington,D.C.

Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research - The Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research (CCAR) was established at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the College of Engineering and Applied Science during the fall of 1985. It is hosted by the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences and is a part of the University of Colorado's commitment to develop a program of excellence in space science.

Almaden Research Center - The IBM Almaden Research Center, located near San Jose, California is one of IBM's research centers, specializing in both basic research in material science and applied research in things like computer storage, where many refinements and improvements were made in hard disc drive technology. The relational database is said to have been developed there.

Central and East European Center for Cognitive Science - The Central and East European Center for Cognitive Science at the New Bulgarian University does research in fundamental and applied Cognitive science. Research topics include: memory, thinking, language, learning, perception, context, applications to robotics, AI, and cognitive systems, cognitive economics, human factors and usability, education and learning methods.

Danish National Space Center - The Danish National Space Center (DNSC) (Danish: Danmarks Rumcenter) is a sector research organization and a part of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. It is located in Copenhagen at Østerbro.

Avoiding excessive reliance on formal mathematical derivations, it presents concepts intuitively through examples drawn from familiar contexts.
